As everyone has been anxiously waiting (or not) the transition date from TD Ameritrade to Charles Schwab is almost here. In fact, it
will be official September 5th. As the date draws nearer, many clients have had questions and even a few concerns. First and foremost we want assure our clients that their accounts will transfer to Charles Schwab exactly as they are at TD Ameritrade. Meaning stocks, bonds, treasuries, CDs, cash, etc. will appear in your new Schwab account exactly as they appear in your TD account.
Furthermore, all Capstone clients with TD accounts, already have their accounts created with Schwab for the pending transfer. This should assure everyone that their TD accounts will transfer smoothly into their already established Charles Schwab accounts.
We actually have been working with Schwab for over a year now in order to get ready for this merger/transition. So, while you may be unfamiliar with Schwab, please be assured that we, as your advisors, are in fact very familiar them and their processes. We will continue to manage your accounts just as we always have, there will be no changes in our management process and communications with you.
As for some other important details, please read carefully as these are very important and will make your transition much easier.
TDA will encourage all clients to log into TD’s www.advisorclient.com starting on 7/31 and create their new Schwab Alliance credentials. Credentials created through this process will be much easier for clients, than waiting until the Tuesday after Labor Day. Also, by acting early, if there are complications we can get these taken care
of before the actual transition date.
After the Labor Day holiday, the www.advisorclient.com web site will forever re-direct to www.Schwab.com, and clients will encounter additional setup security or account questions to create their User ID. So again, it is of utmost importance that clients do not wait until after Labor Day (9/5/2023) or after.
Also, if clients are setup for electronic delivery at TD, but do not create web credentials at Schwab, then their statements and trade confirmations will change to US Mail in October of 2023.
Finally, we want to emphasize that while this is a major change,
we are here to guide you through it and answer any questions along the way. While this is new for all of you, we have been preparing for a while.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to the Capstone Team with any questions or concerns. We want to make this transition as easy as possible and avoid any unnecessary anxiety for
our clients.
