Weekly Economic Update: September 18, 2023
Falling bond yields–Stocks ended the week roughly where they began as investors digested a mixed set of new economic data.

Stocks Struggle For Direction Stocks traded around
the flatline without any catalyst in either direction. On Thursday, investors welcomed the European Central Bank, signaling its rate-hiking campaign may be nearing its conclusion and a successful IPO that revived optimism in the capital markets. Investors also cheered a stronger-than-forecast retail sales report and a modest increase in core producer prices, overlooking a higher-than-expected headline number.
Should I delay Social Security?
If your career and health permit, delaying Social Security can be a wise move. If you wait until full retirement age to claim your benefits, you could receive larger Social Security payments as a result. For every year you wait to claim Social
Security past your full retirement age up until age 70, your monthly payments get about 8% larger. Careful planning is a core part of preparing for retirement and it's never too early –or too late–to start. Whether you're just starting to invest for retirement, or looking for ways to optimize
your savings, a thoughtful approach can help you achieve your investment goals. We can help you design a plan, set goals, and stick to it. Contact us with your social security or retirement questions.
Great Colorado Payback helps you cash in on unclaimed property
The state is holding on to $1.5 billion in cash, and some of it could be your money. The Great Colorado Payback program began in 1987 and is designed to return lost or missing property to their rightful owners. Unclaimed property can include things like tax rebates, lost paychecks,
dividends, utility refunds, insurance checks, and more. One Colorado man was reunited with his collectable baseball cards after he put them in a safe deposit box in Crested Butte in 1998.
Even businesses lose track of property and payments, occasionally resulting in unclaimed property which can be claimed. Corporations, schools, hospitals, and small businesses are also listed among the many individuals whose assets are in
the possession of the State. This property is held in perpetuity, so it's never too late to look for anything you might be missing. "People lose property all the time, so we are here to validate the program and let folks know that it is legitimate," said a Colorado official. "You'll want to look if you've
lived here if you've ever done business here... and don't just look for yourself, look for family and friends as well." Check for unclaimed property in your name by visiting colorado.findyourunclaimedproperty.com and click the "get started" button.
